TONTOGANY — Otsego freshman Cailyn Rider hit a hard grounder up the middle, scoring junior Sabrina Martinez-Bush for the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth as the Knights walked off to defeat visiting Lake, 4-3, in a key Northern Buckeye Conference softball game Thursday.

PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood’s baseball team cruised past Rossford Monday afternoon, 9-1, in a Northern Buckeye Conference game.

TONTOGANY — Van Buren (157) won Otsego’s Tim Downey Invitational boys track meet Friday, followed by Otsego (139½), Bowling Green (113½), Napoleon (108), Lake (99), Toledo Scott (44), Toledo Rogers (23), and Cardinal Stritch (2).

OREGON — It is not often that the Perrysburg baseball program finds itself in rebuilding mode. Usually the Yellow Jackets reload, but this year the program has plenty of new faces seeing varsity action.

PERRYSBURG — In both teams’ season opener, Perrysburg senior attack Evan Wolaver scored the game-winner in overtime to lead his team to a 7-6 victory over Sylvania Northview Friday at Steinecker Stadium.

COLUMBUS — Rossford sophomore Noel Reinhart finished eighth in the 110-pound weight class at the girls state wrestling meet Sunday, which continues a standard at her school.

OAK HARBOR — Lakota placed third, Lake placed fourth, Otsego sixth, Lake was tenth and Northwood 12th at the Division III sectional wrestling tournament Saturday.

SANDUSKY — At the Division II sectional wrestling tournament Saturday, Rossford scored 78 points to finish eighth.

DEFIANCE—At the Division II sectional wrestling tournament Saturday, Bowling Green scored 136 points to finish sixth.

ROSSFORD — Eastwood junior bowling Cassi Kieper finished second at the Division II district meet, qualifying her for the state meet next weekend.
