Eastwood’s Kieper joining Wahl at state bowling

ROSSFORD — Eastwood junior bowling Cassi Kieper finished second at the Division II district meet, qualifying her for the state meet next weekend.

Kieper bowled a 179-193-221—593 series Friday at Interstate Lanes, placing only behind district champion Kayla Homan, a senior from St. Marys, who bowled 268-185-174—627.

Kieper is the second Eastwood bowler to qualify for state as an individual. On Thursday at Interstate Lanes, Eastwood freshman Hayden Wahl qualified for the boys state tournament by rolling a 170-200-220—590 series.

As a team, the Eastwood girls finished seventh, bowling a team total 3,167, which was 357 pins out of qualifying.

The top three teams, St. Marys (3,621), Sandusky Perkins (3,549) and New Bremen (3,524) qualified as teams.

The state tournament is Friday and Saturday, March 3-4, at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Wauseon (3,506) finished fourth, followed by Coldwater (3,458), Napoleon (3,341), Eastwood, Liberty Center (3,157), Willard (3,122), Shelby (2,988), Galion (2,812), and Fostoria (2,721).

Eastwood bowled a game series of 755-761-835—2,351 and had Baker game scores of 167-152-107-132-123-135—816.

Other Eastwood bowlers were junior Abby Rothenbuhler (178-139-159—476), junior Delaine Zura (150-167-156—473), and freshman Makenzie Grover (140-152-168—460).

Bobcats one spot away from advancing

FREMONT — The Bowling Green boys bowling team finished one spot away from advancing to the Division I district tournament, finishing fifth during the sectional tournament at Plaza Lanes Friday.

In addition, BG senior Miguel Lorenzen bowled a 181-179-165—525 series, placing ninth as an individual, one spot and only three pins out of qualifying for the district tournament as an individual.

Tiffin Columbian junior Brandon King was the sectional champion, bowling a 224-207-224—655 series.

Advancing as a team were Ashland (4,140), Maumee (3,413), Sandusky (3,376), and Mansfield Senior (3,338).

BG was 96 pins back at 3,242 and Perrysburg finished seventh with 3,220 pins.

BG bowled game series of 699-790-770—2,259 and had Baker games of 169-196-168-160-154-136—983.

For the Bobcats, junior Lucas Lily bowled 144-186-159—489, junior Jerrad Main bowled 132-148-170—450, and senior Aidan Peper bowled 102-138-138—378.

BG sophomore Cyrus Higham bowled games of 140 and 139 and sophomore Treyvon Ladler bowled a 138 game.

Perrysburg total game scores were 783-787-736—2,336 and Baker scores were 137-150-138-164-146-179—914.

Perrysburg junior Rohan Gupta bowled 179-148-188—515, junior Jamey Phillipps bowled 180-179-151—510, junior Nathan Ulrich bowled 165-173-148—486, and senior Douglas Usted bowled 157-141-122—420.

Junior Wyatt Sorg bowled a 146 game and substitutes bowled 102 and 127 games for the Yellow Jackets.
