Douglas S. Hess, M.D., a general surgeon in Bowling Green, Ohio for forty years, died at home on January 11, 2023. He was 92 years old. He had a long and distinguished career in medicine, including serving sixteen years as Wood County Coroner. In addition to his long and distinguished career in medicine, Dr. Hess was actively involved in the farming operation he owned and operated. He enjoyed spending many weekends working in the fields, continuing even after his retirement from medical practice in 2004.

Jac A. Beaverson, age 68, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on September 9, 1954, in Bowling Green, Ohio to Donald and Nancy (Smith) Beaverson. Jac married the love of his life, Kathy, on September 19, 1987.

Michael Lerma, 69, of North Baltimore, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at his residence. He was born on February 2, 1953, in Dayton, OH to the late Felix and Eva (Cantu) Lerma. He married Linda Tellez on June 18, 1973, and she survives.

William James Lloyd Jr., 71, of Olathe Kansas and formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully December 29, 2022. He was born October 20, 1951 in Bowling Green to the late William Lloyd Sr. and Helen (Morrow) Lloyd.

Mark Lee Hummel, 61, of Perrysburg passed away at 12:22 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. He was born on February 20, 1961, to the late Nevlin L. Sr., and Carol S. (Holmes) Hummel. Mark was raised by his loving late grandparents, Howard and LaDonna Hummel.

Barney Jackson Freeman, II, age 51, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 5, 2023 after a 6-month battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Belynda, his mother, Simone, his sister, Julie, and his cousin, Lee. Barney was born in Amherst, Ohio to his father Barney Jackson Freeman, Sr., and his mother, Simone (“Sandra” Morris) Freeman on August 27, 1971.

Kristi Kay Welty Smith, age 71, of Risingsun, Ohio joined her loving parents and grandparents in their heavenly home on January 3, 2023. She was born on February 14, 1951, to Jack L. and Verneda (“Peggy” Barlekamp) Welty. She married Marvin J. Smith on September 17, 1977, in Prout Chapel on the campus of Bowling Green State University and he survives.

Kenneth William Scholl, 87 of Deshler, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.

Joshua R. Lewis, 40 of Pemberville, OH, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 30, 2022. He was born November 27, 1982 to Jacklyn (Mitchell) Wairse, in Toledo, OH.

Alice Marie (Cook) Ault, 93, Pemberville, Ohio, formerly of Wayne, Ohio died January 3, 2023.
