Eastwood softball 15-2 after 19-2 win over Lake

MILLBURY — Eastwood softball improved to 15-2 overall and 5-1 in the Northern Buckeye Conference after a 19-2 road win against Lake Wednesday. The Flyers fell to 10-3 and 3-2.

The Eagles outhit the Flyers 20-7 and took advantage of five Lake errors, scoring 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Adyson Bowe was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, Jessyca Smith was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Delaney Maynard was 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs for the Eagles.

Grace Kingery was 3-for-5 with an RBI, MacKenzie Hady was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Caitlyn Stiner was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Makenzie Grover was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Lily Escobedo and Cassi Kieper had base hits for Eastwood and Dani Black had a sacrifice.

Kieper started in the circle for the Eagles, striking out nine, walking two, and allowing four hits and one earned run through six innings. Hady pitched the seventh, allowing three hits and one run.

For Lake, Diem Isbell was 2-for-4 with a stolen base, Sophia Gruetter had a triple, and Sarah Patrick, Jessie Materni, Kali Bedford, and Alivia King had base hits.

Bedford started in the circle, taking the loss, while Patrick took over in relief in the seventh.
