Unbeaten, No. 2-ranked Eastwood beats Lake, 15-2

MILLBURY — Eastwood pitcher Andrew Badenhop struck out six, walked one and allowed six hits and two runs as the Eagles defeated Lake, 15-2, in Northern Buckeye Conference action Wednesday.

Eastwood, ranked second in the Division III state poll, stayed undefeated at 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the league.

Badenhop had the assistance of the Eagles’ 11-hit attack, and the Eastwood offense took advantage of four Lake errors and seven walks.

The game was scoreless through two innings, but Eastwood put up three runs on the board in the top of the third while Lake countered with two runs of their own.

Eastwood scored a single run in the fourth, added two in the fifth, three in the sixth, and six in the seventh to pull away. The Eagles had seven extra base hits.

Case Boos was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, Tristan Schuerman was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, Jackson Bauer had a triple and Badenhop and Jordan Pickerel hit doubles.

Jarod Bonfiglio and Colton Woodward had a base hit, Badenhop had a sacrifice fly, and Bauer and Pickerel both reached after getting hit by pitches.

On the mound, Kadyn Donnell closed in the seventh for the Eagles, striking out two of three batters he faced.

For Lake, Drew Tajblik was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Nate Wagner was 2-for-3 and Gavin Kohlhofer, Myles Lowe and Jack Sobzack had base hits. Sobzack was hit by a pitch and Connor Eck had a sacrifice bunt.

Aiden Young started on the mound, taking the loss, and Brandon Phillips took over in the fifth.
