Bobcats score early in 12-4 NLL win over Panthers

An early lead helped Bowling Green baseball defeat Maumee, 12-4, in a Northern Lakes League game on Thursday.

Bowling Green scored on a single by Jack Brown in the first inning, a single by Brent Boston in the first inning, a single by Nate Kress in the second inning, a walk by Brown in the second inning, and a single by Braden Freyman in the second inning.

Bowling Green took the lead for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second, Kress singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Logan Neifer was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Brown drew a walk, scoring one run, and Freyman singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Brown led BG to victory on the mound as the righty surrendered four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings, striking out fou. Neifer and Will Brose entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Lane Franklin toed the rubber for Maumee. The bulldog allowed four hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one.

Logan Nye and Xavier Lopez Stuber entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and two and a third innings respectively.

Maumee launched two home runs on the day. Chase Maulucci went deep in the first inning. Jack Becker had a four bagger in the first inning.

Bowling Green totaled 10 hits in the game. Carter Earl, Boston, and Brown each managed two hits to lead the Bobcats.

Maumee totaled eight hits. Maulucci and Becker all managed multiple hits for Maumee. Maulucci went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Panthers.
