A Bowling Green State University student reportedly shot himself accidentally on Wednesday night in a
campus parking lot.
BGSU police responded to an incident in Lot 7 behind the student union. A student accidentally shot
himself in the hip inside his vehicle, according to the BGSU Facebook page.
The student is at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was conscious and alert when
transported to the hospital. Police are investigating.
There was no threat to the community, according to the university.
An AlertBG notice was not sent. A university spokesperson said the notices “only go out when there is a
threat and it was immediately clear that there wasn’t a threat.”
