Latta votes against spending bills

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, released the following statement after he
voted against spending legislation that was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives this evening.

“While we all want an end to this partial government shutdown, the funding bills put on the floor by
House Democrats don’t include the resources we need to secure our southern border. In addition,
pro-abortion provisions were inserted into the bills including a repeal of the Mexico City policy. This
legislation was not an effort made in good faith to try to end the shutdown, but a partisan one that
sets a discouraging tone for how the Democrats intend to run the House under Speaker Pelosi. For those
reasons, I voted against these bills.
“I have already supported legislation to fund the government and secure our border, but it was opposed by
every Democrat in the Senate. With President Trump holding the pen, we’re going nowhere until Democratic
leadership is willing to come to table and negotiate.”
