Fifer and Civil War re-enactor Greg Hernandez will appear at the Wood County District Public Library
Saturday at 2 p.m.
Hernandez will perform Civil War era music and will share items from his extensive collection of Civil
War memorabilia. Hernandez is a member of the 2nd Carolina String Band, a group known for its authentic
renditions of 19th century American music, performed on historically accurate instruments. Through his
association with 2nd Carolina String Band, Hernandez has contributed period music to soundtracks for the
Ken Burns documentaries "Mark Twain" and "Jazz."
In 2002, the band provided background instrumental music for the soundtrack as well as perform on screen
in "Gods & Generals."
