Bowling Green Police and Fire divisions are investigating an apartment fire near Ridge Elementary School.

Fire crews responded to 3021â„2 N. Prospect St, two houses south of Ridge Street and in the alley the
continues south from the school, at 4:45 p.m. Thursday. They found a fire in the attic of the apartment
on the second floor of a converted garage. Someone at the scene reported everybody was out of the
building.
Firemen had to open the roof and peel away some of the siding to make sure the fire hadn’t extended into
the rest of the building.
According to fire Chief Steve Meredith, the apartment was not extensively damaged, but is not habitable.

The state fire marshal’s office was called in to assist with the investigation.
There were "suspicious circumstances at the scene of the fire that would call into question how it
started," stated Lt. Brad Biller, with the police division.
The fire was extinguished fairly quickly, but fire crews did not to the station at 3:30 this morning due
to "a lot of investigating" at the scene, said Meredith.
No injuries were reported.
