Children of all ages are invited to travel the globe with special programs, events, and activities in the
Children’s Place of the Wood County District Library.
Registration for the summer reading program, "One World, Many Stories" begins June 2. A teen
summer reading program "You Are Here!" also begins June 2 and will include additional
programming.
The journey begins in the "map room." Pick up a calendar of events, create a reading passport,
and receive a one day pass to the Bowling Green Family Aquatic Complex in City Park.
Each time students return to the Children’s Place, they report their reading progress, earn points, and
incentive prizes.
All summer, youth will be inspired to read for fun and explore other cultures, countries, and languages.

Weekly programs begin June 6, with Monday Morning Movies for all ages.
Tuesday Maps to Math and Wednesday Roadtrip Readers meet weekly for one hour as buddy programs for school
age children.
Fun hands-on activities each Tuesday will feature math concepts expanded with a global theme. Read aloud
practice each Wednesday will feature folktales from around the world and a turn to read aloud to Ben, a
registered therapy dog.
New this year on Thursdays, Summer Singers will meet for one hour each week, practicing musical
selections from around the world. At the end of the summer, those school age children will participate
in a public performance at the library with Gemini, a duo from Ann Arbor.
Thursday morning Travelin’ Tots, for babies, toddlers and their caregivers, will feature stories, songs,
rhymes, and play.
On Tuesday mornings and evenings, Suitcase Stories for preschoolers and their families will feature
stories and songs from around the world. Special guests will read the classic picture book, "The
Very Hungry Caterpillar," in different languages.
Family favorite, ventriloquist Mark Wade, will be back with a new show.
The Toledo Zoo will bring animals to the library and describe their habitats around the world.
Mexican dancers, Ballet Folklorico, will return with another colorful performance.
Laura Shakti, with students from Radiance Studio, will perform Middle Eastern dance and drumming.
Amal Shaheen from Southside 6 will make hummus and the Children’s Place will make peanut butter then have
a "Sandwich Swap" lunch.
The Children’s Place will host a birthday party celebrating traditional customs from around the world.
Ice cream sundaes will be created with different toppings enjoyed around the world.
Additional storytimes will be offered at Wintergarden and Simpson parks, and City Park.
The program ends the first week of August with a raffle for additional prizes. Every participant receives
a one day pass to the Wood County Fair and raffle tickets based on how much they have read.
