Kathy Newlove, founder of Alicia’s Voice, has received Gleaner Life Insurance Society’s Community Service
Recognition Award.
This award is presented to individuals who work at the local or grass roots level and live by the true
spirit of volunteerism which is the cornerstone of the fraternal benefit system. Newlove was honored by
Gleaner’s Bowling Green Arbor in a May 12 presentation at Sam B’s.
Alicia’s Voice is named after Newlove’s daughter who was a victim of domestic violence. She has done
tireless work to provide a center where victims and their children can have access to all necessary
legal, medical and social services under one roof. Because of her support and dedication to bringing
real an measurable change by promoting a center for assistance, education, and support of legislation to
protect people from domestic violence, Newlove "deserves to be held up as an individual worthy of
community recognition."
