Park programs focus on spring
The Wood County Park District has two programs coming up geared toward children.
Greenhouse Fun is Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Reuthinger Greenhouse in Northwood.
Children can play in the dirt, plant garden and collect wild seeds. Take a pot home to a sunny window for
planting in May.
The Search for Spring scavenger hunt is April 9 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the W.W. Knight Nature
Preserve in Perrysburg.

PERRYSBURG – Music and art classes for children will be offered in April at the 577 Foundation at 577 E.
Front St.

¥ Partners in Fun is for 3 to 4 year olds with an adult. The leader is Carol Jambard-Sweet and the limit
is 14 per class.
The April 12 class is from 10 to 11 a.m. and will have an Easter theme. The fee is $5 per child.
¥ A beginner Native American flute class will be held April 30 from 10 a.m. to noon.
This class includes ownership of a hand-crafted 6-hole cedar Native American styled flute, basic
instruction, handouts including fingering chart, an original and traditional song to play.
The leader is David Rogers and class is limited to 10. The fee is $40.
¥ An intermediate Native American flute class for third-graders through adults will be held April 30 from
1 to 3 p.m.
Continue develop the ability to play the Native American flute. Includes review of performance basics,
ideas for greater creativity, guide to reading music and Nakai Tablature, embellishments, vibrato,
special effects and forms of articulation. Bring a five or six-hole Native American flute. Participants
must be able to play the Native American flute’s natural scale
Rogers is the leader and class is limited to 10. The fee is $40.
BG actors in ‘Blue Bird’
TOLEDO – Two young actors from Bowling Green are members of the cast of "The Blue Bird of
Happiness" that will be staged Saturday at 1 and 3:30 p.m. at the Collingwood Arts Center, 2413
Collingwood Blvd.
Bob Walters plays the lead, Johann, the little boy who goes to find the bluebird of happiness.
Sophia Hachtel,plays one of the birds giving advice to the children.
The play, adapted by Dorothy Zimmerman, is being produced by Children’s Theatre Workshop.
Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults.
This story focuses on two children, seeking to alleviate the problems of unemployment, sadness and
poverty in their family by seeking the Blue Bird of Happiness.
The hour-length production involves children from 5 through 15, with the teens of the theater doing all
the backstage tech work as well as serving as student director and stage manager.
