Michelle Evans was looking for more space for her growing loan and insurance business, but didn’t want to
leave downtown Bowling Green.
Earlier this year, she happened to see a friend moving out of his North Main Street office, just a couple
blocks down from Evans Home Loans at 328 S. Main St.
She ended up moving in.
"It’s just much bigger. It’s what I needed, for filing and so forth," said Evans, who has been
in business in Bowling Green since 2003 handling home loans.
In the last three years, she and partner Josie Asmus-Cotterman have expanded to handle insurance.
"We do home, auto and commercial," Evans said. "Because of the economy, we wanted to
diversify and offer more products and services."
In the loan area, the women handle home loans, refinancing and purchases. They work with local banks and
non-local institutions, Evans said.
On the insurance side, they do business with multiple carriers, which benefits customers.
"If a premium goes up, we can take it to other carriers. We work with Erie, Grange, Progressive. We
have the capability of shopping the policy to different carriers."
All of the servicing is done locally, too, which makes it more convenient if a customer is involved in an
accident, Evans said.
Their new office at 113 N. Main St., right at the "four corners," is 3,045 square feet.
Although she was looking for a new space, Evans said she never thought of leaving Bowling Green or its
downtown.
"I like being in downtown BG. People are working here, going out to eat," she said.
"Everyone tries to be supportive of each other and the businesses."
Evans and Asmus-Cotterman have one full-time employee and several part-time employees.
