Community agriculture programs set for BG

What is a CSA and what can it mean for your family’s meals?
Community Supported Agriculture is becoming a more and more popular choice for many families in providing
fresh local foods on the kitchen table.
CSAs offer "shares" or memberships in exchange for a portion of the season’s harvest from local
growers. This allows the consumer to enjoy fresh farm products and strengthens the connection between
them and their food.
On Monday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. the public will have the chance to visit with several CSA providers
The meeting will be held at the Ohio State University Extension of Wood County, 639 S. Dunbridge Road.

There is no obligation nor expectation to participate in a CSA, so the public is invited to attend and
learn more about the CSA options available locally.
There will be a handful of local farmers who are passionate about sharing the highest quality vegetables,
berries, meats, eggs, and honey with their neighbors.
Those attending will learn how these farmers and their CSAs use sustainable and organic practices to
provide naturally grown, farm fresh products.
This educational event is complete with a sampling of local foods, recipes and ideas for using local
foods.
Expected to attend are Schooner Farms of Weston, Omega Meats of Grand Rapids, Shared Legacy Farms of
Elmore, Friendship Farms of Waterville and Riehm Farm of Tiffin.
Additional meetings to also provide similar information are set for March 17 at 7 p.m. at Grounds for
Thought on South Main Street; and on March 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Simpson Park.
