PERRYSBURG — It didn’t take long for Perrysburg’s boys to put away visiting Northview on Friday.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead and never trailed, cruising to a 64-39 Northern Lakes
League victory.
Perrysburg improved to 10-5 overall and 9-2 in the NLL. Northview dropped to 2-12, 1-9.
“Offensively, (Northview) took a lot of things away, but we moved the ball. We got some open shots and we
buried them,” Perrysburg coach Dave Boyce said. “We definitely had contributions from a number of guys
tonight … We made the extra pass a lot and whoever the open guy was, those guys scored.”
Ten different players scored for the ’Jackets, with senior guard Karter Sell leading the way with 15
points. Junior forward Jake Pfleghaar added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds and two steals.

Seniors Kevin Schenk and Jason Meyer each contributed nine points for the ’Jackets, who shot an
impressive 55 percent (27-of-49) from the field.
“That’s one of our strengths,” Pfleghaar said. “They can’t just stop one of us. We can all contribute …
We’re getting our chemistry down.”
Perrysburg led 11-2 after a Meyer 3-pointer at the 2:42 mark of the first quarter. Northview cut the lead
to 15-11 early in the second, but Perrysburg went on a 17-4 run to end the quarter and led 32-15 at
halftime.
Sell had 10 points in the first half and Perrysburg committed only two turnovers compared to Northview’s
10. The Wildcats shot just 31 percent (5-of-16) in the first half.
Senior Devon Dunbar had a nice putback before the buzzer to give the ’Jackets a 17-point lead at the
break. Perrysburg’s bench, which includes Meyer and Dunbar, accounted for 23 points in the game.
“We shot it better than they did early,” Boyce said. “Our defensive pressure had a lot to do with that.
They took some shots that maybe they didn’t want to take.
“It was nice to see Jason Meyer come in and shoot with confidence. Devon Dunbar made a big shot right at
the end of the half,” he added.
The game was never in doubt in the second half as Perrysburg built its lead to 24 points in the third
quarter.
Northview, which has lost 12 of 13 games after a season-opening win over Clay, was led by Conner
Hartnett’s nine points. Jacob Sturt added eight points and six rebounds.
The win completed the season sweep of Northview for the ’Jackets, who beat the Wildcats 57-42 on the road
earlier in the season.
“The game at Northview was a tough game,” Boyce said. “They’re always well-prepared and they play hard
… so we had a lot to get ready for tonight.
“Even though it wasn’t the kind of game that brought the crowd to its feet, it was methodical and we’ll
take it.”
Perrysburg remains two games behind NLL-leading Bowling Green, which won in overtime at Springfield
Friday. The ’Jackets play at BG next Friday.
The Bobcats beat Perrysburg, 62-51, in the teams’ first meeting this season on Dec. 14. BG hosts
Southview in a makeup game on Tuesday.
Perrysburg has a non-league game at home tonight against Cleveland St. Ignatius.
“That one’s been circled since we lost to (BG), so it’s obviously a big game,” Pfleghaar said. “But we’ve
got to take care of business (against St. Ignatius) first.
“At the beginning of the season that was our first goal, to win the league,” Pfleghaar added. “We have to
take advantage of our opportunity.”
The ’Jackets won the junior varsity game, 53-22. Perrysburg’s Shane Edwards actually out-scored Northview
himself, finishing with 23 points.
