Prep Hoops: Rodgers’ basket lifts Otsego boys over Lake (2-4-11)

Tommy Rodgers’ layup, his only points of the game, with four seconds remaining Friday gave Otsego a 59-58
win over Lake in a Suburban Lakes League game.
Rodgers’ basket capped an Otsego rally that saw the Knights erase a 42-38 deficit after three quarters.

In other games in the SLL, it was: Elmwood 61, Eastwood 56; and Gibsonburg 57, Woodmore 51.
In boys Northern Lakes League games, it was: Bowling Green 73, Springfield 72, in overtime; Perrysburg
64, Northview 39; Southview 49, Rossford 33; and Maumee 50, Anthony Wayne 47.
In a non-league boys game, Genoa defeated Northwood, 50-45.
In a girls Midland Athletic League game, Carey topped North Baltimore, 56-34.
BOYS
Otsego 59, Lake 58
At Owens Community College, A.C. Limes scored 21 points and Ryan Smoyer added 17 as Otsego improved to
4-10 overall and 3-5 in the SLL.
Ra’Shad Smith scored 16 points and Dylan Hirzel had 13 for Lake (8-7, 4-4).
Gibsonburg 57, Woodmore 51
In Gibsonburg, Gage Beaber scored 29 points to help the Golden Bears improve to 6-7, 3-4.
The Golden Bears were 17-of-24 from the free-throw line, compared to Woodmore’s 9-of-13.
Jon Sandwisch led Woodmore with 16 points, followed by Donny Bowen with 15 and Grant Weirich with 13. The
Wildcats (8-6, 5-3) fell two games behind SLL leader Elmwood.
Southview 49, Rossford 33
In Sylvania, the Cougars took a 17-6 lead after one quarter to raise their record to 9-7, 7-3.
Allen Gant had 18 points for Southview, while David Renner added 12.
Josh Perry’s 10 points led Rossford (3-12, 1-10).
Maumee 50, Anthony Wayne 47
In Whitehouse, Maumee won on a 3-point shot at the buzzer.
Shawn Flanagan led Maumee with 15 points, followed by Anthony Barnum with 11 and Tyler Martin with 10.

Three AW players scored in double figures — Mark Donnal had 16, Jake Conklin scored 13 and Reed Allen
added 11.
Maumee is 9-7, 6-5. AW fell to 3-11, 2-9.
Genoa 50, Northwood 45
In Northwood, the Rangers led 38-33 entering the fourth quarter but could not hold on against the Comets.

Stephen Clark led Genoa (6-7) with 15 points while Luke Sutter added 10.
Ricky Hartley led Northwood (3-12) with 24 points. Tyler Williams added 12 points for the Rangers.
GIRLS
Carey 56, North Baltimore 34
In Carey, Lauren Jacoby scored 18 points as the Blue Jackets improved to 12-4, 7-1.
Jessica Frost had 11 points for NB (11-6, 4-4), while Ricci Emahiser had nine rebounds and four steals,
and Megan Wright had three steals.
