11 frame: Dates set for BG city tourney 11-17

Varsity Lanes has announced the squad times for the annual city tournament. The South Main Street center
will play host to the team event from Dec. 6-20, and the doubles and singles events from Jan. 10-24.
Again this year, the tournament will kick off with the "Squad of Champions" at 10 a.m. on Dec.
6. Squad times are available on most weekday evenings as well as times on Saturdays and Sundays during
the run of the tournament.
There will be $1,000 in added prize money by the Bowling Green United States Bowling Congress board based
on 100 team entries.
There again will be two divisions. The open division is open to all men and women members of the local
USBC organization, as well as a separate women’s division limited to all female members.
Entry fees are $15 per bowler per event, with an optional $2 all-events entry for the 9-game total of a
bowler’s first appearance in each event.
Entry blanks are available at the host center and Al-Mar Lanes. Squad times will be confirmed by the host
center.
League ‘lites: On Nov. 7, Mikayla Young bowled games of 247 and 232 in her 666 series in the McDonald’s
Majors league at Varsity Lanes. She was part of the Eastwood state championship team last season.
In a non-sanctioned league, John Carmack came within two pins of perfection last week as he bowled a 298
game in the Tuesday College league at Varsity Lanes.
Surviving the game: The four bowlers eliminated in Al-Mar’s "Surviving the Game" with pins
under average were: Nate Henschen, Rand Miller Memorial, 141; Rob Treen, American, 112; Scott George,
Elks and Sue Clark, Ladies Major, both 100.
Youth of the Week: Youth bowlers who bowled the most pins over their average last week, with pins over,
were:
Varsity: Bantam/Prep, Jonah Houtz, 46, Skylar Gallegos, 30; Major/Junior, Young, 80, John Pena, 62.
Al-Mar: Bantam/Prep, Tyler Pacheco, 45, Wyatt DeWitt, 30; Major/Junior, Cody Ruegg, 50, Kelsey
Hammersmith, 28.
