Nominations sought for WCDPL supporters

Nominations are due Monday for the Wood County District Public Library’s Legacy of 1875 Award.
This award, named for the year the public library was established in Bowling Green, has been created to
recognize an individual or group for substantial contribution to advancing the Wood County District
Public Library mission. Award nominees must have made outstanding contributions in at least three of
these criteria:
¥ Improves library services through sustained or recent contributions
¥ Supports a significant library service, program, or activity
¥ Advances the role of literacy and lifelong learning through partnership of libraries, organizations,
and agencies
¥ Promotes, develops, and celebrates community service and outreach
¥ Inspires others through active participation and promotion of WCDPL and its mission
¥ Shows dedication, leadership, and support to library-sponsored programs
¥ Demonstrates sustained involvement within the last 12 months with significant results
¥ Promotes youth-oriented programs which advance literacy and learning initiatives in our communities
The selection committee is made up of one member each of the following library boards: the Library
Foundation, the Friends of the Library, the Literacy Advisory, the chairperson of the Library Board of
Trustees, and the library director. The selection committee then forwards to the Library Board of
Trustees, as a formal approval, a recommendation of the winner.
The inaugural 1875 Award will be presented Dec. 3 at the library’s annual Volunteer Recognition
breakfast.
