Free equipment at WCESC Thurs.
The Wood County Educational Service Center, 1867 N. Research Park, located off Dunbridge Road near
Meijer, is giving away old electronic equipment.
The public is invited to come on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. for free electronic merchandise. The board on
Tuesday approved the "Amazing Giveaway" of outdated equipment which is no longer in use.
The merchandise will be available on a first come-first serve basis and includes, but not limited to
external and other disc drives, networking and power cables, lots of floppy drives; as well as other
random odds and ends.
BG officer cited after crash
Bowling Green Police Officer Andy Mulinix Jr. was involved in a traffic crash Tuesday morning while
responding to a assault just south of downtown.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. at the intersection of South Summit Street and Palmer Avenue.
Mulinix was eastbound on Palmer when he entered the intersection without stopping, according to the
police report.
The vehicle he struck was operated by Greggory Brooks, who was northbound along Summit Street.
Both drivers received minor injuries. Brooks refused treatment, and Mulinix was transported to the
hospital by a university police officer.
The officer did have lights and sirens activated. He was cited for traffic control device/stop sign.
Mulinix was responding to a reported domestic dispute in the 300 block of Palmer. Fernando A.
Olivarez-Torres, 22, of Williams Street, was arrested for felonious assault, obstructing official
business, and criminal damaging after he reportedly cut another man on the arm with a broken glass
bottle, endangered a female residente, then fled the scene. He was caught on Lehman Avenue near the
railroad tracks and taken to jail.
Two bag days at thrift shop

Job Fair for veterans is Nov. 19
TOLEDO -The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Veteran Representatives in Toledo are working to
bring military veterans and potential employers together during their third annual Veterans Job Fair
Nov. 19.
The Job Fair, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza (Amtrak Central Union
Terminal), 415 Emerald Ave., is open to veterans and their spouses, with over 60 area employers and
organizations participating.
Veteran representatives from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services organized the event.
Additional sponsors are Lucas County, Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology, and Owens Community
College.
No reservation is required to attend.
Toledo holiday parade Nov. 28
TOLEDO – Toledo’s annual Holiday Parade will step off at Summit and Jefferson streets at 11a.m. on Nov.
28, traveling north on Summit Street to Jackson Street and finishing on Huron Street at 12:30 p.m. Kris
Kringle Village, a two-day attraction at the Erie Street Market, will be held on Nov. 28 and 29. It will
feature kids activities and live entertainment.
Edmund Fitzgerald memorial
RIVER ROUGE, Mich. – A memorial service for the men lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald will be held Nov. 10 at
Dr. Henri Belanger Park in River Rouge, Mich. The service will be near the Mariners Memorial Lighthouse
beginning at 6 p.m.

The service will be at on the Detroit River next to where the ship was built at the slips and on the
other side is where Zug Island is.
An Edmund Fitzgerald open house will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at the River Rouge Historical Museum.
Thanksgiving dinner at Elmore
ELMORE – A Western Ottawa County Communities Providing Thanksgiving Dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2
p.m. on Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Day) at the Woodmore High School Cafeteria, 633 Fremont St., Elmore.
The unemployment rate for the six western townships of Ottawa County is nearing an unbelievable 17%.
These townships include Allen, Benton, Carroll, Clay, Harris, and Salem. The reality of these numbers
has led the communities of Elmore, Genoa, and Oak Harbor to pull together to offer a free Thanksgiving
dinner.
The churches, civic organizations, local businesses, school groups, and private citizens are
collaborating to organize and prepare 500 holiday meals.
Although reservations are not required, anyone wishing to attend, with or without transportation
