Elmore gardens offers tours and seminars

ELMORE –
Schedel Gardens, 19255 W. Portage River S. Road, Elmore, will be hosting several seminars and other
events in the coming weeks.
A session on organic vegetable gardening is set for Tuesday; an elegant evening is planned for July 24.
Future programs will include
Susan Muezner of Nilsson’s Landscaping, Waterville, will be the presenter at the 6:30 p.m. program on
Tuesday featuring organic vegetable gardening.
If vegetables are homegrown and organic, all they need is a good washing before being eaten
Muenzer will share some of the pleasures of growing your own veggies with those in attendance, going over
‘how to’ advice, seed and plant sources, and planning.
Now is a good time to start preparing for a fall crop or for next spring.
Reservations are required. Fee is $12 per person. Plants will be for sale.
The July 24 program is billed as an "Elegant Evening at the Gardens." It will be held from 6 to
8:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person or $340 for a table of eight.
Advanced registration is required.
The evening will begin with feature beef medallions and shrimp as the entrée. The final touch on the
evening, offers a twilight stroll through the lovely 17-acre garden estate.
A tropical evening is planned for July 28; a guided tour is planned for Aug. 6; while organic herb
gardening will be featured on Aug. 11. Cost for each of these is $12 per person and reservations are
required. The latter session will be presented by Vicki Gallagher, who serves as the head gardener at
the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg.
Additional programs planned for the summer and fall include seminars on bonsai plants, orchids, rain
gardens and additional guided tours.
