Larry M. Ross, 75, of Toledo and most recently of Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, passed away
Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
He was born in Grand Island, Neb. on May 18, 1934 to Lloyd M. and Pansy Helen (Simms) Ross and was a 1952
graduate of Grand Island Sr. High School.
An U.S. Army veteran, Larry served our country during the Korean War stationed in Germany.
He continued his education and in 1961 received his Bachelor of Education from University of Nebraska.
During his high school and college years and even after his military service, Larry was a gifted
"south paw," pitching many no-hitter fast and slow pitch softball games.
Larry married Sondra J. "Sonie" Paris in Grand Island, Neb. on February 3, 1962 and had worked
as a Field Rep. in Market Research for AC Nielsen – Dun & Bradstreet, Inc for thirty-four years.
Since the mid 1970s he was an amateur radio operator with the call sign WD8PKI and along with his wife
Sonie had volunteered at various Amateur Radio charity events. They both also were volunteers with the
Victory Center in Toledo.
Larry was a member of the American Legion Post No 587 Conn-Weissenberger Post in Toledo. He was an avid
sports fan especially Nebraska football and enjoyed bird watching and spending time with his family. He
was mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sonie; children, Sally Jo Ross of Perrysburg, Scott (Lisa) Ross of
Perrysburg, Tracy R. Mueller of Monroe, Mich. and Tyler Ross of Temperance, Mich.; grandchildren,
Hunter, Canon, Aiden and Hannah; dog, Cassie; and sister, Eve Zlomke along with many dear nieces and
nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cameron and Marion and sisters, Virginia and
Lorraine.
Friends will be received from 1:30-3 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009 in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222
E. South Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will be
