Haas has BG’s best front yard

The final winners are in for the 2009 Beautiful Bowling Green Contest.
Best Front Yard:
First place – Paul Haas, 873 Ferndale Ave.
Second place – Becky Paskvan, 331 N. Church St.
Third place – Carol & David Buser, 1125 Quail Hollow Dr.
Best Accent Planting:
First place – Carol Haler, 880 Sand Ridge Road
Second place – Vincent and Charlotte Zelenak, 216 Princeton Ave.
Third place – Linda Kidd and Jim Bucker, 474 Church St.
Commercial/Retail:
First place – City Park Entrance, done by Master Gardeners
Second place – Ben’s Table, 1021 S. Main St., Debra Pirooz owner
Third place – Pagliais, 954 S. Main St., Robin Nicholson owner
The contest is in its 13th year.
It began last month with 22 volunteer judges finding 70 neighborhood winners. The final winners were
announced Saturday.
Sponsors include North Branch Nursery, Wolf’s Blooms & Berries, Klotz Flower Farm, Bostdorff
Greenhouse Acres, D&D Landscaping, Mid-Wood Inc., Staples, Home Depot, Marsh & Marsh,
Floyd Craft and Newlove Realty.
"I would like to thank and congratulate all the winners and gardeners of Bowling Green," said
BBG organizer Penny Peery. "You do take pride in your landscape and it shows." Last year BBG,
Inc. received a proclamation that June will always be Beautiful Bowling Green Month.
BBG Inc. is also responsible for the construction of the new city entrance sign at the corner of Newton
Road and North Main Street. David Yeary is the designer and creator.

Other winners are 880 Sand Ridge Road, 474 Church St. and 216 Princeton Ave., all for accent plantings.
