The 115th annual convention of the Lakeside Federation of Women’s Clubs will be July 8-9 in Fountain Inn
at Lakeside.
Co-presidents Evelyn Bachman of the Bowling Green Woman’s Club and Elaine Barth of the Tiffin Women’s
Club have chosen "Keeping Our Federation Going" for the convention theme.
Lou Ann Newlove of the No Name Club of Bloomville and Mary Etta Hemmerly of the Bowling Green Woman’s
Club are secretary and treasurer, respectively of the federation.
The federation includes 26 clubs from Northwest Ohio.
The morning program on July 8 will feature a garden tour sponsored by the Lakeside Women’s Club. If there
is inclement weather, Jim and Peg Goss of South Euclid will provide a program of slides of various
gardens around the world.
On that afternoon, Neil Allen of Lakeside will make a presentation of "Famous People Who Have
Visited Lakeside." And Jo Vernon of the Bowling Green Woman’s Club will conduct a memorial service.

Then an afternoon tea will be held at Green Gables, the Lakeside Women’s Club home. The tea will be
hosted by the No Name Club of Bloomville.
The program on the morning of July 9 will be titled "Random Acts of Kindness and Visions." It
will be presented by Craig Rutter of Defiance College. He will show pictures and explain how he involved
students, alumni and local people in many important service programs.
The convention will end with the annual luncheon in the historic Hotel Lakeside. Following lunch Detra
Bennett will present a history of the Lakeside Federation.
Registration is $3, while the cost of the luncheon is $12.50, plus Lakeside gate fees.
