LUCKEY – Harold A. Wachter, 78, of Luckey, died Sunday (June 28, 2009) at Ebeid Hospice Residence,
Sylvania.
Mr. Wachter was a furnace operator for Libbey-Owens-Ford, Rossford, and retired in 1980.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Kiwanis Club, both in Luckey; and was a past village
councilman and Little League coach. Wachter Field in Luckey was named in his honor.
He enjoyed fishing and helping in the community with his backhoe and dump truck.
He was born Sept. 3, 1930 in Bowling Green to William and Esther (Eschedor) Wachter.
Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Miller, of Old Fort; a son, Bill, of Luckey; six sisters, Ruth McCrary,
Elkart, Ind,; Irene Traver and Leona Sheeks, both of Bowling Green; Betty Lockwood, Bothel, Wash.;
Phyllis Charles, of Perrysburg; and Rita Koepfer, Fostoria; two brothers, Paul, of Bowling Green, and
Gene, Findlay; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Folk, and brother, Dennis.
The funeral will be Thursday at noon in the church. Rev. Jeanne English will officiate. A graveside
service will be conducted later in Troy Township Cemetery.
A bereavement luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the funeral.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon at the church.
