BG man arrested after being accused of opening car doors.

On Sunday around 1:44 a.m., Bowling Green police were dispatched City Lot 1 for a male attempting to open car doors.

Michael Bratton, 32, Bowling Green, was arrested for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct/intoxicated – unable to care for self.

When officers arrived at the scene, the complainant and two additional witnesses advised that the male, Bratton, had been wandering through the parking lot pulling on the door handles of several cars and setting off several car alarms, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

One person told police that Bratton attempted to open her car before she confronted him. When police approached Bratton, they noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and that he was swaying while standing still, according to the report.

While speaking with Bratton, officers smelled a strong alcoholic odor on his breath. Bratton denied pulling on any vehicle doors and stated that he was attempting to locate his vehicle in the parking lot, according to the report.

Bratton was unable to provide his vehicle information and refused to contact a sober individual for a ride.

He was taken to jail.
