Bowling Green police responded to a potential burglary at the 200 block of South Maple Street Sunday.

Charges have been filed against Timothy Sprott, 22, Temperance, Michigan, for aggravated burglary.

When police arrived at the scene shortly before 4:30 a.m., the owner of the residence took them inside the home to inspect the damages, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Another individual told officers that Sprott had a verbal altercation with them at the downtown bars earlier that night. The group later left Sprott and went back to the residence.

Around 4 a.m., Sprott showed up to the residence, banging on the door. The group told police that Sprott broke through the front door and was strangling one of the residents, according to the report.

A roommate woke up to the commotion and chased Sprott out of the house.

Police were unable to locate Sprott, according to the report.
