A Bowling Green man was arrested early Thursday morning for OVI affer he crashed his motorcycle.

Around 12:50 a.m., Bowling Green police were called to the area of North Grove Street and Curtis Avenue for an injury crash. Dispatch advised that the vehicle was a motorcycle on its side.

The driver, Bradley Barton, 24, was found standing on the sidewalk with his motorcycle. When asked by police if he was injured in anyway, he stated that he was not injured and did not need BG EMS to check him out, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Barton stated that he was heading northbound on North Grove and attempted to make a right turn onto Curtis when the motorcycle lost traction and came out from underneath him, causing the accident.

Officers noticed that Barton had bloodshot and glassy eyes, with an odor of an alcoholic beverage. He was found carrying a firearm, with the gun being confiscated by the police.

Barton initially stated that he had nothing to drink prior to the accident but failed multiple sobriety tests.

After being taken to the police station, a test showed Barton had a blood alcohol content of 0.139.

Barton was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, improper handling of a firearm, failure to maintain control of a motorcycle and motorcycle temporary permit violation.

After being medically cleared by the Wood County Hospital, Barton was transported to the Wood County Justice Center. His driving status was suspended until further notice.
