Senior shortstop Sammie Trimpey and junior pitcher and center fielder Zoe Ziems return to lead the Bowling Green softball team this spring.

Trimpey, a second team All-Northern Lakes League utility player who batted .554 with 30 stolen bases last year, will play collegiate softball at Heidelberg University.

Ziems, a third team pitcher with a 3.16 ERA, had a .318 batting average, .956 fielding percentage and led the team in RBIs.

They lead a BG team that finished 13-15 overall and 5-9 in the NLL during coach Cassie Nauman’s first season at the helm. Nauman returns for her second season with six letter winners.

“We have depth in our hitting, fielding, and pitching to work together and surprise some teams this year,” Nauman said. “We have our minds on a strong overall and league record. Together, we as a team push each other to be better.”

Other key returnees for the Bobcats are senior Makenna Oates, who will play second base, third base and catch, and senior outfielder Brynn Wilhelm.
