BG man arrested for trespass, obstruction

Bowling Green police arrested a man Tuesday for trespass and obstructing official business after he refused officers’ commands.

At 4:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of East Wooster Street for a report of a customer refusing to leave.

According to manager, Aliyu Bappa was advised multiple times to leave the store prior to officer’s arrival. The manager provided the man’s name, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Bappa advised the officer that he was at the store to talk about his bill and became agitated when they refused to help him.

While speaking, Bappa’s voice became louder and louder and he was advised multiple times to stop yelling, according to the report.

He was told that he needed to leave the store or he would be arrested for criminal trespass.

When asked for identification, he refused to give his name and date of birth. The officer told Bappa if he were unable to provide identification, he would be arrested for obstructing official business.

The store manager told police she would like Bappa trespassed from the business.

When Bappa continued to refuse to identify himself or leave the store, he was arrested for criminal trespass and obstructing official business and was taken to jail, according to the report.

After being handcuffed and placed in the back of the cruiser, Bappa, 31, provided his name and date of birth.
