Jerry W. Gambrell, age 80, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo.
He was born on September 18, 1943, to Buford and Thelma (Hollis) Gambrell in Waynesboro, Tennessee.
Jerry was an Army veteran serving 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Dynamics Land Systems Division in Lima, Ohio after 36 years of service. He was honored in the work he completed on the M1A1 Abrams defense tank.
After retiring, Jerry divided his time between fishing, watching classic westerns and any films with Clint Eastwood. He spent many years volunteering during the Stony Ridge Festival.
He cherished quality moments with his three grandchildren, son-in-law, and family. Jerry was known for his simplicity and quiet demeanor.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol; daughters, Robinne (John) Antonacci and Suzanne (Calvin Jarvis) Henry; and grandchildren, Shelby (Matt) Almester, Shane Antonacci and Aaron Henry.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Gambrell.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St., Walbridge, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in the funeral home. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
