BGSU extends FAFSA deadline for prospective students

Prioritizing student success and outcomes, Bowling Green State University is extending its Free Application for Federal Student Aid—or FAFSA—and scholarship priority deadline to March 15 for prospective students.

Like many colleges and universities across the country, BGSU is adapting to the changes made to the FAFSA by the federal government. With the federal delay in sending completed FAFSA data to institutions, BGSU is extending its priority and scholarship deadline to give students and families more time to apply for financial aid and scholarships while ensuring the university receives the required information to determine financial aid packages.

As the No. 1 public university in the Midwest students say they would choose again, BGSU is committed to supporting learners and their families in filing the FAFSA and other related documents. Through the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, the University is offering multiple in-person and virtual sessions dedicated to answering questions and helping students successfully submit their FAFSA. Additionally, BGSU continues to proactively communicate with students about important deadlines and adjustments related to the FAFSA and financial aid process.

“Financial aid plays an important part in determining which college or university a student attends, and BGSU is committed to being a resource for students and families seeking scholarship and financial aid opportunities at the university,” said Cecilia Castellano, vice president for Enrollment Management at BGSU. “We will remain flexible and adaptable with further FAFSA adjustments as part of our promise to provide students an affordable, worthwhile college experience.”

For additional support, prospective students and their families are invited to attend the university’s Presidents Day Open House on Feb. 19, where they can meet one-on-one with admissions counselors and financial aid staff to ask questions and be guided through a step-by-step process on FAFSA completion, all while seeing what makes BGSU the No. 1 university in Ohio—public or private—for student experience.

With non-binding, rolling admissions, prospective students may apply and commit to BGSU at any time throughout the year. New, first-time students admitted for Fall 2024 semester are encouraged to complete and submit their housing deposit and orientation reservation no later than May 15 for priority access to room selection and orientation dates.

Prospective and current students and their families are encouraged to contact the BGSU Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships with questions by calling 419-372-2651 or by visiting BGSU.edu/financialaid.
