Warrant issued for BG man

A warrant has been issued for a Bowling Green man who has been accused of entering an apartment and threatening the inhabitant.

Bowling Green police responded to the 1000 block of Third Street Sunday shortly after 3 p.m. for a report of people arguing.

According to the Bowling Green Police Division report, Melvin James, 39, entered the back door of an apartment and said he was going to rape the inhabitant.

James had been advised on Aug. 28 to not be on the property, according to the report.

He allegedly dragged the inhabitant to the bedroom. She was able to break free, ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife, according to the report.

James left the apartment through the back door. Officers went to his residence, but he was not there.

He has been charged with burglary. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
