4 men indicted for sex-related crimes

Four men – two from Wood County – have been indicted for sexually-related crimes, including rape.

A Wood County grand jury on Sept. 20 indicted Cody Buskirk, 24, Mount Vernon, for rape, a first-degree felony.

On March 30 or 31, 2019, he allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with another after purposely compelling her to submit by force or threat of force.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Brett Douglas Chime, 44, Pemberville, was indicted for 11 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, all fourth-degree felonies; one count pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, a second-degree felony; and possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

Eleven times on June 24, he allegedly bought or possessed obscene material that had a minor as one of its participants.

From Nov. 20-Dec. 31, 2021, he allegedly created, reproduced or published obscene material that has a minor as one of its participants or observers.

He was in possession of an Apple iPhone which he allegedly used to commit the offenses.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Max Joseph Stewart, 22, Perrysburg, was indicted for two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, both fourth-degree felonies; and pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, a fourth-degree felony.

On July 4, 2022, and July 25, 2022, he allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with another person who was 15 years old.

From July 1, 2022, to July 31, 2020, he also allegedly buy or possessed obscene material that had a minor as one of its participants and sold or provided the 15-year-old with material that was obscene.

Larry P. Betts, 46, of Shelby, was indicted for five counts importuning, all fifth-degree felonies; and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony.

From Dec. 12-15, 2022, he allegedly used a telecommunication device to solicit, for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity, a law enforcement officer posing as a person who he believed was between the ages of 13-16.

He allegedly sold or presented material that was obscene to the law enforcement officer who was posing as a juvenile.
