Takats, Fenneken lead Jackets past Eagles, 44-7

OREGON — Perrysburg improved to 5-0 after defeating Clay, 44-7, Friday in a non-league game on Ted Federici Field at Clay Memorial Stadium Friday. The Eagles fell to 2-3.

In the first quarter, Iain Hall ran for a 14-yard touchdown and Nick Oros scored from one-yard out.

In the second quarter, Oros scored from three yards and Perrysburg quarterback Josh Takats threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Fenneken.

For Clay, Mason Heintschel threw a 21-yard TD pass to Aaron Miller, but the Yellow Jackets led at halftime 29-7.

In the third quarter, Fenneken caught a four-yard TD pass from Takats, and in the fourth, Takats threw a seven-yard TD pass to Fenneken.

Takats completed 12-of-18 passes for 176 yards, including six to Fenneken for 84 yards and the three touchdowns.

Dominick Woods caught four passes for 62 yards and Hall caught two passes for 30 yards. Oros ran for 111 yards on 20 carries and Abram Hire had an eight-yard run.

The Yellow Jackets were 6-for-9 on third down and 2-for-2 on fourth down, while Clay was 5-for-13 on third down and 1-for-7 on fourth down.

For Clay, Heintschel completed 18-of-26 passes for 190 yards, including five to Miller for 53 yards, four to Brodi Ostrander for 50 yards, four to Troy Hazuda for 38 yards, two to Noah Ozenbaugh for 29 yards, two to Brayden Schultz for 17 yards and one to Ivan Burkey for three yards.

Defensively for the Jackets, Grey Swanson had an interception and Paulo Walkosky and Aaron Crowley had quarterback sacks.
