FINDLAY — Ford Curtis Sheffel, 93, of Findlay passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Wood Haven Healthcare, Bowling Green.

Ford was born on November 24, 1929 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Ford and Ester (Pheneger) Sheffel. He married Louise Rodabaugh and they were later divorced. He then married Julia Fortman in 1982 and she survives. Also surviving are his children: Vickie (Al Daugherty) Aller, Teresa (Barry) Sheffel, Paula (Bryan) Sidle and JoAnna (Michael) Fairbanks; grandchildren: Christin, Kelly, Bubba, Amanda, Kirk, Diana, Kayla, Jarred, Zachary, Grant and Scott and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Ford Curtiss Sheffel and a brother Duane Sheffel.

Ford worked many years as a carpenter and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, with the Seabees. While serving in Seabees, Ford drove a bulldozer with an automatic weapon on his hip. He was honorary discharged in 1954. Ford loved exploring the Western United States. He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Findlay and enjoyed hunting, shooting skeet and sporting clays and spending time on Lake Erie fishing. Ford was a proud member of the Findlay chapter of the Elks, American Legion, and Conservation Club. As part of the Conservation Club, he won many awards for competitions. Most of all, Ford loved spending time with his family. He was an amazing father, grandfather and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

A Time to Gather and Celebrate Ford’s life will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10 until a time of sharing memories at 12 noon in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840. At the conclusion of the memory sharing, military honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad.
