A man who allegedly attempted to break into a home has been arrested for attempted burglary.

On Saturday at 2:10 a.m., Bowling Green police responded to the 400 block of Conneaut Avenue on a report of a man banging on the front door.

When officers arrived, they observed a man, later identified as Andrew Moore, banging on the front door. Moore ran south along the side of the residence as the officer exited the cruiser, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

A foot pursuit began, and Moore was spotted two houses to the east. When officers identified themselves, he reportedly took off running again.

As he ran north toward Conneaut Avenue, an officer drew his Taser and told Moore to stop running and get down on the ground.

Moore complied and he was placed in handcuffs, according to the report.

When dispatch ran the driver’s license from Moore’s wallet, it came back invalid.

He denied banging on any doors and would not say why he was on the home’s front porch.

The homeowner had a Ring doorbell and provided footage to police. Moore was seen banging on the front door, asking for help. He also was heard stating “oh no, it’s the police” before he ran, according to the report.

A citation for criminal trespass was changed to attempted burglary after the homeowner reported glass on the side door had been shattered.

Moore, 19, St. Marys, also was cited with furnishing false information to obtain alcohol, obstructing official business and underage/under the influence.

He was taken to jail and posted bond on Monday.
