Bowling Green police responded to Wood County Hospital on Saturday after a panic alarm was triggered.

Officers arrived shortly before 2:30 a.m. and were advised of an unruly and combative subject in the emergency room.

Officers found a man lying on a bed, shirtless and heavily sweating, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

According to the police report, as staff members were placing restraints on him, he abruptly awoke, raised the upper half of his body from the bed and became irate. One female staff member was kicked in the chest, causing her to stumble backwards into the door of the room.

The man reportedly continued to throw his body around on the bed, attempting to strike and kick hospital staff and officers on scene. Ten hospital staff and officers were needed to subdue him, according to the report.

Staff eventually were able to inject sedatives into the IV.

Hospital staff said the man was brought in by a friend, who was in the emergency waiting room, and that he had struck numerous employees prior to officers’ arrival.

No charges have been filed.
