BG Community Center shutdown extended through Aug. 18

The shutdown for annual maintenance to be completed at the Bowling Green Community Center has been extended an additional week through Friday, Aug. 18 due to gymnasium floor resurfacing complications that will impact the entire facility.

The city sent out a news release Thursday.

The floor resurfacing process results in toxic fumes that will require the facility to be closed for a few days after the application in order to ensure the safety of facility visitors, patrons and staff. The end result will be a floor better equipped to meet the needs of all recreational users.

Anyone who needs to conduct business with the Parks & Recreation Department, the Simpson Building Administrative Offices, 1291 Conneaut Ave., will remain open on a limited basis from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday during the shutdown period to accept and process program registrations, rental reservations and payments, as well as other related business transactions.

During this time, the Bowling Green State University Student Recreation Center has agreed to extend its reciprocal agreement to BG Community Center pass holders.

More information about the reciprocal usage will be emailed to current pass holders later this week. Hard copies of BGSU parking passes previously issued for BG Community Center pass holders will continue to remain valid during the week long extension, with copies of passes also being made available for pick up to BG Community Center pass holders who still need them at the Simpson Building during business hours.

The BG Community Center will reopen for use on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m.
