Elmwood thrower Jackson Childress is also state bound after finishing third in the discus, topping out at 168-1. His throw of 53-5½ was good enough for fifth place in the shot put.

The state meet is June 2-3 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus.
