Lourdes’ Devine all-academic for third time

Lourdes University had eight softball players named NAIA Scholar-Athletes the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced, including 2019 Bowling Green High School graduate Katie Devine.

Others earning the honor are Brooke Albert (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights), Maddy Bartos (Sylvania Northview), Vivianna Gonzalez (Brownstown, Mich./Cabrini), Ella Leonard (Lorain, Ohio/Midview), Megan Richardson (Napoleon), Elizabeth Valdez (Toledo Start), and Madie Wagner (Wynford).

Devine, Leonard, and Richardson earned the honor for the third time in their career while Bartos is a two-time honoree. Albert, Gonzalez, Valdez, and Wagner all received the accolade for the first time.

A total of 1,131 student-athletes throughout the NAIA were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes this season in softball.

In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution.
