To celebrate Independence Day, the City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Visit BG Ohio, Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and the Wood County Agricultural Society announce the return of the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks, scheduled for July 3.

The display, which begins at dusk, will be launched in a secure area within the NWOTPA property, which provides for viewing from all around the fairgrounds area as well as into the surrounding neighborhoods.

The Bowling Green Community Band will return this year as a feature for the evening.

The BGCC will be seeking community support to help fund the event through sponsorships, donations, and fundraisers. Sponsorship registration and donation forms are available on the chamber website at www.bgchamber.net, or by calling 419-353-7945. Fundraisers, including the Bates Recycling Aluminum Can Drive, are currently underway, with more information at bgchamber.net.

With the support of VBGO, the festival will also return for a fun-filled afternoon prior to the fireworks display. The festival, which runs from 4-9 p.m., will include inflatables and interactive games.

It will be free to attend for everyone in the community. If any businesses or organizations would like to learn more about being involved by providing a game or activity, reach out to the chamber office for additional details.

The WCAS will be hosting a camping weekend and other events on the fairgrounds in conjunction with the BG Boom festivities. The All-American Camping Celebration will feature a Military Vehicle display, a craft and vendor show for the public, and campsites under the fireworks. There will be family activities planned all weekend for anyone camping.

Anyone interested in camping can reserve a spot by calling the fair office at 419-352-0441 or by going online to woodcounty-fair.com and registering under specialty camping tab.

Anyone that would like to become a concessioner for these events should contact the fair office for more information.
