Bowling Green softball swept a doubleheader from Willard, winning 11-1 and 16-6 on the Bobcats’ field Saturday.

The Bobcats improve to 6-3 and have now won six of their last seven games. Both games Saturday were shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.

In the opener, sophomore Zoe Ziems pitched three innings of scoreless softball, not allowing a hit while striking out seven and walking one.

Senior Katelynn Rashley pitched the final two innings, striking out two, walking none, allowing four hits and no earned runs.

At the plate, the Bobcats belted out five doubles, including one each from seniors Sarah Konecny and Meghan Kramp and juniors Samantha Trimpey, Brynn Wilhelm, and Makenna Oates.

Trimpey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Kramp was 2-for-2. Also getting base hits were Ziems and freshman Lillian Wilkie. Senior Cassidy Kroggel was hit by a pitch twice.

Kroggel, Trimpey, Rashley, Oates and Wilhelm had stolen bases for BG. The Bobcats scored in every inning, putting up two runs in the first and added three more in second, three in the third, and three in the fourth.

In the second game, BG blasted 17 hits, including doubles by Trimpey, Konecny, Wilkie and junior Taylor Rothenbuhler.

Trimpey was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Konecny was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Oates and Ziems were both 2-for-4 with an RBI. Freshman Marissa Bernal and Kramp had base hits for the Bobcats.

For the second straight game in a single day, Kroggel reached after getting hit by a pitch twice, making it four HBPs in one day. Wilkie also reached after getting struck by a pitch.

Ziems had three stolen bases in the second game, Trimpey, Kramp, Kroggel and Rothenbuhler had two apiece, and Konecny, Rashley and Wilhelm had one SB apiece.
