Cocoon events recognize Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

The Cocoon, Wood County’s comprehensive domestic and sexual violence agency, will be hosting several community events throughout April in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.

While it is the Cocoon’s mission to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence throughout the year, April is a time when the community at large has an opportunity to honor the courage and strength of survivors of sexual violence, and to stand in solidarity with them as they share their stories and work to create communities that no longer tolerate abuse.

The following awareness events will be hosted during April:

April – all month

The Wood County Clothesline Project and Window Display is at 112 S. Main St.

Wednesday, 3 p.m.

BGSU SAAM Yarn Storming of Campus will be held at the Bowling Green State University Student Union. Teal-colored yarn crafts will be placed around the center of campus and will be on display during the month of April. There is no cost to attend this event and it is open to the public.

April 12-13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

April 15, Packet Pick Up begins at 9 a.m. for the 5K and walk

Sexual Assault Awareness 5K and Dog Walk will be at the BGSU Student Rec Center, 1411 Ridge St. Join the Center for Violence Prevention and Education, Center for Women and Gender Equity, Dept. of Recreation and Wellness, and the Wellness Connection for this annual event benefiting the Center for Violence Prevention and Education and The Cocoon.
