Wood County Health Dept. conducts inspections

The Wood County Health Department during the first week of March visited communities on the outskirts of the county.

The following inspections were done March 6.

Taco Bell Express, 3483 Libby Road, Perrysburg, had one non-critical offense, which was facility not maintained clean. It was corrected during inspection.

The following inspections were done March 7.

Great Scot, 13710 Deshler Road, North Baltimore, had one critical and four non-critical offenses.

Critical was missing and/or incomplete allergen declaration(s). It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were working food containers not properly labeled (repeat); equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted (repeat); non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; and floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth and easily cleanable (repeat).

Dollar General Store, 13240 Deshler Road, North Baltimore, had one non-critical offense, which was outer opening not protected.

Briar Hill Health Campus, 600 Sterling Drive, North Baltimore, had one critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical was quaternary ammonium sanitizing solution at incorrect temperature, concentration, and/or water hardness. It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; and personal items improperly stored.

American Legion Post 539, 539 E. South St., North Baltimore, had one critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical was improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials. It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable; and floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth and easily cleanable (repeat).

During a follow-up inspection, Wild Side Brewing Company, 24194 Front St., Grand Rapids, had four non-critical offenses, which were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection; outer opening not protected; physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and food service operation did not have a person in charge per shift with the person in charge certification in food protection.

The following inspections were done March 8.

Dollar Tree Store, 2676 Woodville Road, Northwood, had one critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical was improper storage of poisonous or toxic materials. It was corrected during inspection.

Non-critical were improper storage of food items; and no covered receptacle in women’s employee restroom. Both were repeat offenses.

Wonder Bakery Outlet, 3818 Woodville Road, Northwood, had two non-critical offenses, which were non-food contact surfaces lined with absorbent materials; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair (repeat).

Flatlands Coffee, 138 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had two critical and one non-critical offense.

Critical were chlorine sanitizing solution at incorrect temperature and/or concentration (repeat, corrected during inspection); and equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean.

Non-critical was non-food contact surfaces not easily cleanable (repeat).

During a follow-up inspection, Doc’s Big City Saloon/Cameo Pizza, 145 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had four non-critical offenses, which were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection; equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted; no sanitizer test kit available; and facility not maintained clean.

During a follow-up inspection, City Tap and The Attic, 110 N. Main St., Bowling Green, had six non-critical violations, which were facility does not have an employee with manager certification in food protection; handwashing sink(s) are not conveniently located as specified in rule; non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean; unnecessary or nonfunctional items and/or litter on premises; physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and facility not maintained clean.

Northwood Nutrition, 500 Commerce Park Blvd., Northwood, had one critical offense, which was food not properly protected from contamination by separation, packaging, and segregation. It was corrected during inspection.

The following inspections were done March 9.

American Legion Albert Bowe Post 338, 209 W. Crocker St., Bradner, had one critical offense, which was Food not properly protected from contamination by separation, packaging, and segregation. It was corrected during inspection.

Porky’s Pizza Trof, 13165 Main St., Weston, had three non-critical offenses, which were non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency (repeat); physical facilities not maintained in good repair; and facility not maintained clean.

Weston Marathon, 13170 Mill St., had one critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical was temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature.

Non-critical were unnecessary or nonfunctional items and/or litter on premises (repeat); and floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth and easily cleanable.

Weston Market, 13565 Center St., had one non-critical offense, which was floors, walls, and/or ceilings not smooth, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable.

Redneck Willy’s, 13217 Main St., Weston, had two non-critical offenses, which were equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted; and physical facilities not maintained in good repair. Both were repeat offenses.

Dollar General, 20080 Oak St., Weston, had one non-critical offense, which was damaged, spoiled, and/or recalled products not segregated from food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-service and single-use articles. It was corrected during inspection.

The following inspections were done March 10.

Marco’s Pizza, 433 Superior St., Rossford, had one non-critical offense, which was employee eating, drinking, or using tobacco in non-designated area. It was corrected during inspection.

Denny’s Restaurant, 1122 Buck Road, Rossford, had three critical and three non-critical violations.

Critical were chlorine sanitizing solution at incorrect temperature and/or concentration; temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature (repeat, corrected during inspection); and refrigerated, ready-to-eat, temperature-controlled foods not properly date marked (repeat).

Non-critical were employee eating, drinking, or using tobacco in non-designated area (corrected during inspection); non-food contact surface(s) not cleaned at the required frequency; and facility not maintained clean (repeat).

S&G, 1130 Buck Road, Rossford, had two non-critical offenses, which were improper storage of food items (corrected during inspection); and non-food contact surfaces of equipment are unclean.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop, 215 E. Wooster St., Suite D, Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was food employee(s) not wearing a hair restraint. It was corrected during inspection.

Biggby Coffee (Incredible Coffee), 215 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, had two critical and two non-critical offenses.

Critical were equipment food-contact surfaces or utensils are unclean; and temperature-controlled foods not being cold held at the proper temperature (corrected during inspection).

Non-critical were improper storage of cleaned equipment, utensils, and laundered linens; and cutting blocks or boards cannot be effectively cleaned and sanitized. Both were repeat offenses.

Domino’s Pizza, 215 E. Wooster St., Suite 8, Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was equipment components are not intact, tight or properly adjusted (repeat).

Eric’s Ice Cream Factory, 215 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, had one non-critical offense, which was unnecessary or nonfunctional items and/or litter on premises.

Zero violations were found at Travelcenters of America DBA Toledo 5, 3483 Libbey Road, Perrysburg; Dollar General, 17467 Wapakoneta Road, Grand Rapids; Charter Steel, 6255 U.S. 23, Risingsun; Mak & Ali’s Pizza, 127 S. Main St., North Baltimore; Walgreens, 1013 N. Main St., Bowling Green; Main Creek Farms LLC, 19925 Willow Road, Weston; Belle Fleur, 135 E. Front St., Pemberville; and Wings Over Bowling Green, 215 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green.
