The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team has been selected to play in the 2023 Postseason WNIT. The Falcons will host Liberty University on Thursday evening (March 16), with tipoff set for 6 p.m. at the Stroh Center.

Chairback reserved tickets for Thursday’s game are $13, with general admission tickets available for $11.

Season ticket holders will be sent an email by the BGSU Ticket office on how to purchase their seats for Thursday’s game. All season ticket holders have first right of refusal if they wish to purchase their 2022-23 seats.

BGSU is appearing in the WNIT for the eighth time in program history, and the second time in three years. The Falcons enter the Liberty game with an all-time record of 8-8 in the tourney.

The Falcons will take the court for Thursday’s game with an overall record of 27-6. BGSU went 14-4 in Mid-American Conference play to tie for second in conference play, and the Orange and Brown advanced to the MAC Tournament’s championship game.

Liberty has an overall record of 24-8, and the Flames went 16-2 in Atlantic Sun Conference play. Liberty advanced to the championship game of the ASUN Tournament.

The Falcons have an all-time record of 0-1 vs. Liberty. The teams met last season (Nov. 28, 2021), with the Flames earning a narrow 76-72 victory in the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md.

The 2023 field features a total of 64 teams. That list includes 32 automatic qualifiers, which are teams that are the next-highest finishers in their conference’s regular season that were not tabbed for the NCAA Tournament. The other 32 teams are at-large selections, chosen after consideration of a mix of criteria by WNIT officials.

There are a total of 35 teams in the field with at least 20 wins so far in 2022-23. BGSU and Green Bay (27-5) are the only two teams in the WNIT field with as many as 27 victories this season to date.

“Postseason accomplishments can fuel some of the most powerful and deeply felt memories that college basketball programs will experience, and we are thrilled the WNIT has been on the job for 25 years to provide an avenue for players, coaches and fans to make the most of these opportunities,” said WNIT director Johnna Pointer.

“From the start, Triple Crown has elevated and appreciated the dedication found within women’s sports, and every indication suggests the 2023 Postseason WNIT will challenge the teams involved and keep fans on the edge of their seats.”
