Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org partners with community

TOLEDO — As the one-year anniversary of Russia’s attack on Ukraine nears, Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org continues to work to help those impacted by the war.

Thanks to the work of Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org, Water for Ishmael and the Sisters of St. Francis, a Ukrainian refugee family of six will have a safe place to live in Toledo when they arrive from Ukraine. This brings the number of Ukrainian refugees who have been sponsored by local families with the to help of 4UA.org. to 30.

Also, Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org, in partnership with the ProMedica Foundation’s Young Professionals Impact and Inspire (“I’m In”) series is hosting a donation drive to collect items that will be shipped to Ukraine.

Hollywood Casino has joined the effort and will be accepting donations from January 31 to Feb. 7, 2023. Donations can be dropped off inside the main entrance to the casino.

Items being accepted include blankets, hand and feet warmers, bottled water, nonperishable food and flashlights and batteries.

I’m In is a networking event series for young professionals which provides an opportunity for the next generation of leaders to engage in the culture of philanthropy. I’m In events never require a monetary donation, but instead ask guests to bring specific objects of impact that directly benefit the chosen beneficiaries.

On Thursday, volunteers are welcome to come to Handmade Toledo, 1717 Adams St., Toledo, from 5:30-8 pm., to participate in the I’m In event to help pack items that will be sent to Ukrainian refugees in Ukraine. In lieu of a ticket, participants are asked to bring an item from the wish list of needed items. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Participants should bring business cards to share with peers and for a raffle.
