Winterfest weekend in Perrysburg: Ice sculptures, children’s activities, music planned

PERRYSBURG — The annual Winterfest weekend is back for its 13th year, highlighted by Family Day on Saturday.

The events start on Friday with ice carving on Louisiana Avenue. The artists at Ice Creations will have the sculptures out through Monday.

More than 30 local businesses have commissioned ice sculptures.

The two-day event kicks off on Friday in the Beer Garden at 7 p.m. in the Perry’s Landing parking lot off Louisiana Avenue and Indiana Avenue.

There will be a heated tent in the parking lot. The 25’s, a classic alternative and modern rock cover band based out of Toledo, will be playing live music.

Children are admitted for free. Tickets for adults will be available only at the door for $15. Pizza will be available from Marco’s. Adult beverages and cigars will also be available for purchase.

Family Day starts on Saturday with a pancake breakfast in the tent from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Donations help support events put on by Downtown Perrysburg Inc..

Way Public Library is hosting Elsa and Anna for a meet-and-greet with the kids at 11 a.m.

The live ice carving demonstrations and other events run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. There will also be a large inflatable polar bear slide, a hot chocolate crawl with a s’mores party, kids dash and scavenger hunt.

In the Perry’s Landing heated tent, there will be additional children’s activities, including cookie decorating, magic shows with Andrew Martin and music with Mile Marker 1. The beer garden will also be open in the parking lot.

At 2 p.m. the kids can “Take Flight” by participating in a free children’s race for ages 2-10. The starting line will be near the Polar Bear Slide at the Commodore Perry Building, 140 E. Indiana Ave. There will be two age groupings, with the youngest group dashing first. Each participant must register for the free race.
