Bowling Green High School

The Bowling Green Exchange Club and Bowling Green High School have announced that Hannah Mathey is the December Student of the Month.

She is the daughter of Shawn Mathey and Sujin Lee.

Mathey’s school honors and activities include membership in the National Honors Society and the French Honors Society. She has represented BGHS at Buckeye Girls State and in honors orchestra competitions.

She is a four-year member of the tennis and swim team where she served as team captain and was awarded scholar athlete in both sports. In tennis, she was a third team NLL qualifier and a district qualifier in swimming.

Mathey is also president of the BGHS StuCrew (Student Activities Board and Key Club).

Outside of school, she works as a lifeguard at the Bowling Green City Pool and has taught youth tennis for BG Parks and Recreation. She is a server for Call of the Canyon.

Mathey has a 4.34 GPA, a composite ACT score of 30, and has taken numerous AP courses. She plans to attend the University of Michigan to study neuroscience on a pre-med track.

Otsego High School

Lee Borders was named the senior Student of the Month for December at Otsego High School.

Junior Olivia Rain Robertson, sophomore Jocelyn Bradford and freshman Hailey Swartz also were honored.

Borders is the son Ron and Rachel Borders, Deshler. He has participated in football and wrestling for four years and student council for two years.

He has a grade point average of 3.5 and is an honor roll student. He plans to wrestle at Siena Heights University and major in biology.

Robertson is the daughter of Christine Parse, Weston. She has been a member of choir for five years and swing choir for two years. She has a 3.6 GPA and is on the honor roll.

Bradford is the daughter of Cherish Bradford and Jason Bradford, Grand Rapids. She has been in band for five years, and is second chair clarinet. She has been in the school musical and choir for two years and in dance for 12 years. She has a 4.063 GPA.

Swartz is the daughter of Luke and Amanda Swartz, Bowling Green. She has been in band for three years, has a 4.0 GPA and is on the honor roll.
