Eleanor Ann Conner, 89, of Bowling Green, OH, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Eleanor was born to Joseph and Lenore Gormley, November 9, 1933, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Dr. Robert (Bob) Conner, on September 3, 1960 who preceded her in death after 40 years of marriage in 2000.

After moving to Bowling Green from the West Coast in 1971 with their two children, Eleanor and Bob made Bowling Green a loving home for decades, both working at BGSU. Eleanor retired from her administrative work heading up the library at BGSU’s Center for Environmental Programs in 1999.

Always keeping active—both with family and friends as well as in the service of others—Eleanor dedicated her time to volunteer work, delivering Wheeled Meals and working at the food pantry (Martha’s Kitchen) at St. Thomas More parish, playing the dulcimer with the Wood Co. Dulcimers, participating as a member of the Shakespeare Round Table, playing bridge, and antiquing. She was a member of both St. Aloysius and St. Thomas More Catholic Churches in Bowling Green. She had many cherished friends and adored her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Gormley, Tulsa, OK, in 2017 and brother Joseph Gormley, Tulsa, OK, who passed away the day before Eleanor on November 23, 2022.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Christopher (Chris) Conner, of Conway, SC, and daughter Kathleen (Kate/”Stacy”) Bare of Arlington, MA, three grandchildren (Brandon Conner, Kristin Conner, and Abigail Bare), and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Kingston Residence of Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving and supportive care while Eleanor was a resident.

Services for Eleanor will be held in the spring with a date and time to be announced.
